[Vegan News = Reporter Lee Yong-hak] With the progression of an aging society, there is a growing number of middle-aged individuals who pursue a youthful and healthy life even as they age. They are making efforts to improve sagging and loose skin caused by aging to maintain a more elastic and youthful appearance.

One of the most popular cosmetic procedures among middle-aged individuals recently is middle-aged eye surgery. They prioritize not just improving sagging and drooping eyes, but also transforming into a more youthful and vibrant image.

In reality, as people age, their eyes easily sag and lose elasticity, making them look older than their actual age. Their overall impression can also appear tired and sleepy. Symptoms such as drooping eyelids, protruding under-eye fat, and dark circles become more prominent, and if drooping eyelids obstruct vision or cause skin wrinkles, it can lead to discomfort in daily life.

In such cases, various cosmetic surgeries such as upper blepharoplasty, lower blepharoplasty, sub-brow lift, and forehead lift can simultaneously improve both aesthetic and functional aspects.

Upper blepharoplasty is a surgery that excises sagging eyelid tissue and corrects the orbicularis oculi muscle to improve eyelid drooping. It can be applied when sagging eyelid tissue causes eyelashes to poke the eyes, leading to frequent tearing, eye swelling, and skin irritation, or when drooping eyelids obstruct vision.

Lower blepharoplasty is a surgery that removes and repositions skin loosened by aging and bulging fat. It involves incising the lower part of the eye, excising excess skin and fat, evenly distributing the remaining fat, and firmly fixing and suturing the muscle.

Sub-brow lift is a surgical method that involves incising the skin along the lower border of the eyebrow, removing sagging skin and subcutaneous fat through the lower part of the eyebrow, and lifting and suturing the drooping upper eyelid below.

However, eye tissue is composed of complex structures, and if middle-aged eye surgery is performed by medical staff who do not accurately understand the anatomical structure of the skin, side effects such as difficulty closing the eyes or a fierce impression can occur.

Director Kim Hong-jin of 1mm Plastic Surgery stated in a written interview with our publication, ‘Middle-aged eye surgery is a complex procedure that must consider not only aesthetic but also functional aspects. High satisfaction after surgery can be achieved by undergoing middle-aged eye surgery through consultation and precise examination with highly skilled medical professionals.’
